I am Confidence Johnson, principal of Stephen Foster Elementary. I joined Bellflower Unified School District in 2013 as the assistant principal at Frank E. Woodruff Elementary and Ernie Pyle Elementary. I previously taught in the Hawthorne School District for fourteen years as a third and fourth grade instructor as well as a Literacy Coach. My first years as a teacher began in a private school for as a third and fourth grade instructor for three years. I hold Bachelor's Degree in Spanish from Xavier University of Louisiana and Master's Degree in Cross Cultural Education from National University. Stephen Foster has and will continue to exhibit the district’s mantra: Standard of Excellence; Nothing Less. As we continue to have class size reduction in grades K-3 or 24:1, our teachers will be able to implement and model necessary strategies needed to fulfill the Common Core State Standards. This year we are excited to begin our "Everyday Kindness" program to highlight students exhibiting our PBIS(Positive Behavior Interventions ans Support) expectations. Our teachers will continue to incorporate and integrate lessons through web-based activities and lessons. My educational philosophy believes, 21st century learners need tools to adapt to the ever-changing world.
